The Great Migration was a period when almost 6 million African Americans left south and settled in North, West part of America. They left the South because they became tired of the unsatisfactory economic conditions of the south and also because of the segregation laws that made it difficult for the African Americans to survive there. The North provided them job opportunities in industrial area as the demands of workers increased because of the First World War. Therefore, African Americans left South in the Great Migration.
